1900s Art Nouveau Black Silk Embroidered Opera Coat
Plucked from the paintings of Alphonse Mucha, this Art Nouveau opera coat is truly a work of art! Crafted of the finest silk, the lapels, collar and French cuffs are decorated with beautiful silk-thread floral embroidery in an iconic nouveau pattern.
This coat is fashioned in a 3 on 6 double breasted design with intricate pleating along the back and on the lower portion of the sleeves. Three covered buttons fasten the coat; the other three buttons are strictly decorative. Coat is fully lined.
Sleeve Length: 25”
Beginning stages of shredding on cuffs and sleeves. No hanging threads, but the material is noticeably worn. Largest damage spot is about a ½”. There are a few small wear spots on the front and back of coat. Buttons are worn but still covered. Lining is in excellent condition and is completely intact. Collar is worn and shredding on the turned edge. Some fading on the shoulder area. Floral embroidery is discolored due to age. Despite these cosmetic flaws, this coat is sturdy and wearable. Priced accordingly.
