SOLD -- Rare 1920s Sheer Cotton Dress with Lace Deer Inserts & Hemstitched Stripes
This product is unavailable
Oh deer! This dress is so adorable, you almost won't be able to stand it!
Fashioned is a lightweight sheer cotton, this dress features not one, not two, but 12 lace deer square panels!! For extra added cuteness, each panel is surrounded by white embroidered polka dots!
Neckline is trimmed in floral laces with a picot edge. The dress itself is "striped" with open-weave hemstitching. The handiwork on this dress is second to none!
Unfortunately, it looks like someone turned this dress into a Make, Do and Mend project sometime in the 1940s and modernized the silhouette. The sides have been taken in at the waist and a metal zipper was added where the snaps once were.
It's very cute as is, but with a few snipped stitches, you may be able to revert this great dress back to it's original sheath cut.
Total Length: 44.5"
Label: None (Handmade)
Dress has some overall discoloration from age. It has slight underarm staining. There are a few breaks in the lace around the neckline (mostly in the back). Still wearable as is. Priced accordingly.
