SOLD -- 1920s Black Silk Hand Embroidered Bird of Paradise Piano Shawl
This product is unavailable
What was once invented as a decorative piece to protect and cover a piano quickly became a fancied wardrobe staple among young flappers in the 1920s. From Norma Talmadge to Ziegfeld Girls, ladies around the world were grabbing these beautifully embroidered silk shawls out of the parlor and wearing them as wraps and dresses for a fringe-filled night out on the town.
Fringe is tangled and needs some TLC to smooth out. Can be steamed straight once it is untangled. Shawl has a dime-sized hole in center, which is not noticeable due to the busy pattern. Can be seen if held up to the light. Could easily be repaired.
