SOLD -- 1920s Mme. C. Kopp Silk Draped Cloche with French Ribbon Work
This product is unavailable
There are some hats you wear to keep your head warm and then there are others you wear simply because they are a work of art. This is such a hat.
Draped in a beautiful Napoleon blue silk (a popular fabric color of the time), this stunning chapeau is a wonderful example of 1920s craftsmanship at its finest!
It is heavily embellished with soutache trim, beautiful hand-knotted embroidered pink buds, multiple shades of ombre grosgrain ribbon decoratively folded using French ribbon work techniques, and topaz glass bugle beads, which are used as filler between the adornments. All of the work is done by hand by a skilled milliner. Hat also has a wired brim.
The inside of the hat is lined in a lovely dusty rose silk and bears the shop tag where it was purchased.
This is truly a museum worthy piece and would be a wonderful addition to any collector's hat arsenal.
Label: Mme C. Kopp Importer
Condition: Very Good-Excellent
There are a couple of loose bugle beads and one loose ribbon end. Both can be easily retacked or worn as is. Does not detract. There are a few shreds starting in the lining. Priced accordingly.
