1940s Handmade Striped Silk Rayon Handbag
This little handbag once had an entire matching ensemble: dress, gloves, hat. Unfortunately, this is all that remains, but it's still quite the stunner!
This vibrant little bag was handmade by the original owner's father in the 1940s. It is crafted in a soft silk rayon with strips of gold lamé woven throughout. Handle is also made of the same material and is gathered at the top with a covered metal wrap piece.
Bag is fully lined and has an inside pocket. Lining is in wonderful condition. Handbag fastens with a brass latch.
Width Closed: 3.25"
Width Open: 5"
Height: 4.5" (8" including handle)
Purse is a little misshaped on the sides from years of storage. The gold lamé stripes are starting to fade/rub off. There is one tiny stain on the side of the bag. The material under the center metal wrap piece on the handle is starting to shred. The brass hardware is tarnished and shows signs of wear. Useable as is. Priced accordingly.
