1940s Homemade Cold Rayon Floral Wrap House Dress
This cheerful wrap dress is perfect for the bombshell who likes to look like a million bucks but still be comfortable!
Perfect for running errands or lounging in the boudoir, this fabulous frock is handmade in a beautiful poppy flowered cold rayon and features a shawl collar, light shoulder pads and an attached belt. It fastens at the waist with metal snaps.
The lovely lady who made this dress clearly was not an accomplished seamstress, which is apparent upon close inspection of the handiwork. However, this piece is a wonderful reminder of the Make, Do and Mend wartime efforts where women sewed at home and used and repurposed what was at hand.
Total Length: 48"
Condition: Very Good
The back of the collar is slightly yellowed. The top part of the belt on one side has come unstitched from the dress. There is some visible hand stitching in various thread colors. There is one small grease spot on the back of the dress, which is difficult to see given the busy pattern and there is one flaw in the material where there is a small red line. None of these flaws detract from the beauty of this piece. Priced accordingly.
