The boater has been a symbol of of social status since the 1820s. Derived from the flat top caps of 19th century sailors, this resilient summer hat established itself as an item of leisure wear for both men and women in the late 1800s. The boater reached the height of its popularity between 1880-1930, with a resurgence following World War II. Today, it still remains an iconic summer topper for the distinguished gentleman.
This wonderful Moveo hat is from the 1940s. It is in great shape for its age. The hat band is a dapper 2.25" navy and burgundy striped grosgrain. Interior sweatband is a soft brown leather.
A wonderful summer hat for picnics and lawn parties or for everyday wear.

Faint discoloration on the hat band and the corner of the hat band bow needs to be steamed back into place. There is some sort of white staining on the inside of the straw. Priced accordingly.
