Early 1950s Dobb Industries MA-1 US Air Force Flight Jacket
The MA-1 flight jacket is perhaps the most popular clothing item ever designed for the United States military forces. Its official name is "Jacket, Flyers, Man's Intermediate Type MA-1" (MIL-J-8279). The first MA-1 jacket was issued to US Air Force and Navy pilots between 1949 and 1950. Today, the MA-1 jackets are relegated to ground crews and are no longer allowed to be used in flight.
This jacket is incredibly rare and has been heavily worn, as it was intended. It has a Crown metal zipper, which means it was issued prior to 1953, making it one of the first MA-1s. It has the US Air Force logo on one arm and a Facietur patch on the front. We have not been able to find out any information about the patch.
