1950s Townley New Look Suit with Oversized Collar
In 1947, Christian Dior took the fashion world by storm when he introduced a new silhouette for the post-war women -- the New Look.
Designed with the womanly hourglass figure in mind, this new cut of cloth placed emphasis on creating a tiny waist, full hips and plentiful bust. Today it is considered one of the most distinct looks of the century.
This elegant rayon blend suit is a wonderful example of the highly sought after New Look with its oversized collar, nipped waist and full mid-calf length skirt. The jacket fastens with three faceted glass buttons giving this suit an air of glamor, which is characteristic of the look.
Jacket has besom side pockets, light shoulder padding and cuffed sleeves. It also is silk lined.
Skirt fastens with side zippers and a button on each side of the waist and is completely lined.
This is the perfect suit for the mid-century Dior-loving bombshell!
