Quite collectible and desirable today are the beautifully embroidered peasant tops of the 1920s and 1930s, such as this one.
Fashioned in a lightweight, sheer cotton gauze, this fabulous blouse has puffed sleeves with a tapered, embroidered smocked cuff. Neckline is round and also has embroidered smocking. It ties closed in the front with tasseled embroidery thread. Waist is smocked with colorful embroidery and closes with three snaps on the side.
The front of the blouse has stunning, elaborate hand embroidered flowers in shades of blue, white, green, pink, yellow and red, which add an air of femininity to this casual piece.
Total Length: 15"
Condition: Very Good
Blouse is structurally sound and wearable, though it does have a few minor cosmetic flaws. There are a few small stains on the back and the side near the buttons. There is a very tiny hole starting under the embroidery on one of the sleeves. The other sleeve has a darned repair that almost looks like it is part of the original embroidery work. Overall, this piece is in wonderful shape for its age. Priced accordingly.
