Rare Dated 1935-38 West Point Military Academy Cadet Full Dress Gray Winter Uniform with Formal Pants & Jodhpurs
Dating back to the Revolutionary War, the United States Military Academy at West Point is the oldest continually occupied military post in America. The Academy has had a number of notable graduates graces its corridors from U.S. presidents to high ranking military officers including Dwight D. Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, George S. Patton Jr., Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and H. Norman Schwarzkopf.
This wonderful full dress gray winter uniform belonged to Cadet W.T. Smith and was hand made by a tailor at the Cadet Store on Oct. 8, 1937.
It features the traditional gray wool dress coat in a swallow tailed style with black silk cord on the breast, cuffs and coat-tails in herringbone form and three rows of gilt bullet buttons as well as the dress gray pants with the contrasting black stripe on the leg and besom back pockets. Pants are dated Sept. 14, 1938, have metal suspender buttons inside of the waistband and fasten with a button fly.
As a rare treat, this set also comes with the full dress gray jodhpurs, which are dated Nov. 19, 1935, and would have been worn by Cadet Smith during equestrian competitions and events. Jodhpurs also have the traditional black stripe on each leg, a button fly and besom back pockets.

Jacket has two small moth holes on shoulder and is missing one bullet button. It has a few small stains on the sleeve and on the tails. The black cording on the collar needs to be reattached. Formal pants have a poorly done seam repair in the seat that needs to be redone. There are a few small moth holes near the leg hem and some faint stains and slight discoloration. Jodhpurs are missing original laces. None of these flaws detract from the beauty and rarity of the complete set. Priced accordingly.
