Stunning & Rare 1928 Swobdi Designer Liquid Silk Drop Waist Wedding Gown with Train
You will feel as though you waltzed out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel when you glide down the aisle in this jaw dropping wedding gown!
This rare beauty was made by Swobdi, a Los Angeles-based designer, in 1928. It is fashioned in a luxurious ivory liquid silk and features a round neck trimmed in a dainty ruffle; tapered sleeves that come to a point at the wrist with snaps; a beautiful V-shaped drop waist in the front and rounded train -- both trimmed in feminine ruffles.
This gown is shorter in the front to show the bride's legs, which was a popular trend as hemlines rose throughout the decade. Dress is fully lined in matching silk and all seams are French seamed and finished in silk trim.
Dress fastens up the side with hooks and eyes.
We also have the original groom's tail coat for sale here.
** Dress is meant to be worn loosely and not fitted **

Condition: Very Good - Excellent
There is a very small shred staring in the lining near one of the arms. It is not visible from the outside. There are a couple of pin point-sized brown spots on the upper portion of one of the sleeves and a very, very faint stain on the skirt near the hips on the side. (See photo). There also looks like there may be a very faint water spot on the back of the dress. It is hard to determine if it's really there because it is so faint and hard to see given the shine of the fabric, but I am listing it in case. This dress is wearable and none of the flaws detract or are even noticeable. Priced accordingly.
